Soma Bay
Soma Bay is a large bay just outside of Safaga. There are five top quality hotels on the Ras Abu Soma peninsula. Soma Bay is known for its challenging 18 hole golf course, excellent kite surfing area and of course for its great reef. The reef of Ras Abu Soma is so spectacular safari ships will stop occasionally.

The diving centre

The Orca Dive Club Soma Bay is located at the 4-star hotel Breakers. From there, it is a short walk over the bridge to the drop-off reef at Ras Abu Soma. The divers have access to 260 aluminium tanks with a capacity of 12 litres each. They are filled by three Bauer compressors (Bauer V500 (500 l/min) and two Bauer KAP 12.14 and KAP 14 (320 l/min and 350 l/min). A membrane system provides enough Nitrox. Child equipment is also available for hire.

Diving boats and diving destinations

The house reef promises spectacular dives. But the area around Safaga has of course also other highlights. They are accessed with three boats. Worth a visit and also easy to dive for less experienced divers are the inner reefs around Tobia. Highlights include trips to the panorama reef, Abu Kafan or a dive to the wreck of "Salem Express". The divers have access to 20 different dive sites overall.
